New York State Regulations Restrict Autism Insurance Provision

Legislation and Healthcare New York Autism News

January 25, 2013- "New York State Regulations Restrict Autism Insurance Provision"- Providers of autism services are claiming that state regulations are undermining the state law that increased how much insurance companies must pay for autism services in the state of New York. Service providers are working to pressure the state’s Department of Financial Services to change regulations that effectively limit the pool of people who can provide such services. The state regulations require insurers to pay up to $45,000 for a year of autism services if they are provided or supervised by certified behavior analysts. A lack of qualified practitioners has resulted in much difficulty pertaining to obtaining insurance for necessary autism services.
