Research and Autism News News By State Michigan Autism News

April 1, 2013- "Brain Damage in Premature Newborns may Raise Risk for Autism"- Low-birth-weight babies with injury to their white matter are more likely to be diagnosed with autism as adults, according to a recent research study. The findings are a part of the Neonatal Brain Hemorrhage Study, an effort that began in the mid-1980s, which used cranial ultrasounds taken within the first few days of infants’ lives to analyze the brains of more than a 1,000 low-birth-weight children.
