My daughter started ABA at 5 years old. At the time she had no language and didn't use PEC's and had 2 signs she would use (more and eat) and most of the time she used sign it was not correct. After being in school for years and not making a goal on her IEP I decided we should try to focus on ABA. Within the first 6 months she was using some PEC's and making some choices. It was amazing she was communicating with us and it was not just when she was upset about something. At 7 years old she started saying ba for Ball and her language and comprehension have improved every day since. She is now 11 and says 2-3 word phrases I know she has worked with great therapist doing ABA to get her here. Can anyone tell me if there child has experienced the same progress using ABA after not making goals at school and with other therapies?

My son has made tremendous progress using ABA- specifically verbal behavior. He goes 3-4 times per week for a couple of hours and we have noticed a huge difference over the last year. He is a lot more engaged and his language has improved greatly. He now goes to pre-school a few days a week and is interacting with his peers. The only other therapy we used was speech because he has some apraxia. That has also gone away.

My daughter gets ABA therapy 4x per week. We have seen a lot of progress in her since we started. She also has benefited from getting speech therapy once a week. The one thing I would say is very important is to carry over what the therapists are doing at home.
